This 2nd day issue of the Champlain Cachet envelope features a map of Port Fortune’ (Stage harbor, Chatham, MA) drawn by Samuel de Champlain in 1606. The new first class Champlain Stamp is in the upper right hand corner and a Special Cancellation Stamp features a self portrait of Champlain and commemorates the 400th Anniversary of Champlain’s landing in Chatham. This collectable is available for purchase at The Chatham Historical Society. Please ask for it when you come to see the Special Champlain Exhibit. It is also available by mail.
