The 2011
Celebrate Halloween An event for all ages! A Halloween celebration for guests of all ages. Support our talented local high school students by coming to see them in multiple ‘spooktacular’ performances- including a recreation of a 17th Century witch trial! Help us award first, second, and third place prizes for community scarecrows placed on the Atwood House lawn. Grab a delicious treat from our food table before heading inside for a scavenger hunt, crafts, and pumpkin decorating. After craft time, the Mural Barn lecture hall will be transformed into a movie theater. At 4:00 and 6:00 pm we will be playing of the classic horror film The Mummy with famed actor Boris Karloff! The Atwood House Museum is hosting a scarecrow making contest. Use your creativity to make the coolest, scariest, funniest, or cutest scarecrow and drop it off on the Atwood House lawn to be judged during the Haunted Happenings event. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will receive a special prize!
The rules are… there are no rules! We want you to use your creativity to make the most unique scarecrow Chatham has ever seen! That means that your scarecrow doesn't have to be a man (or human for that matter!), you can use whatever materials you have available to you, and can dress it in any way you'd like.
Spots on our lawn are first-come-first-serve. You may drop your creation off no earlier than October 24th and no later than October 28th! Judging will take place on Saturday, October 29th at 3 pm - the winners will be contacted immediately after. Please remember to pick up your scarecrow after the contest is over. Please remember to fill out the form below and pin it to your creation prior to dropping it off; for a printable PDF copy of the Entry Form, please click here. Use the Print function of your browser (or Ctrl-P keys) to print.
