In response to questions to our Archivist, Mary Ann Gray will teach a class about researching the history of your home.
As the celebration of Chatham's 300th Anniversary approaches, interest in the history of town properties has increased greatly.
Whether your interest is to document your home's history in order to qualify for the home plaque, or to simply know or display its history
during the Tercentennial year, this class is designed to help.
Participants in this class will learn to utilize the materials available in the Historical Society archival collection to investigate the history of their home. Participants will research utilizing hard copy and online materials such as Town Survey reports as published by the Historical Commission and the Barnstable County Registry of Deeds. Attention will be given to additional records that may be helpful such as the old tax assessor records, old maps of Chatham, and genealogical references etc.
